Ford GT70
The Ford GT 70 was a limited production sports car designed by Ercole Spada, made by Ford of Britain in 1970 and intended for rallying. It was powered by a Capri based V6 engine with a 5-speed ZF transmission, and was mid-engined like the Lancia Stratos.
A rarely known Ford was created in 1970 for the competition director, Stuart Turner and rally driver Roger Clark. GT70 was Ford's answer to the competitive Lancia Stratos. Much of the mechanicals were borrowed from previous Ford models with hopes of keeping production costs low. Only six chassis were made. During production, WRC rules changed and made the GT70 redundant.
The GT70 competed in several rallys and races, but Ford focused on the Escort.
