The Ginetta G1 was the first car built by Ginetta in 1957.
The G1 was a home constructed 'special' built by Ivor and Trevers Walklett in their garden at their home. The car had its own space frame chassis to which an all aluminium body was fitted. The car took it's mechanical components from a pre-war Wolseley Hornet. The car's body style was similar to the Maserati 4C LT.
When later they started producing a car which they sold, they called it the G2, therefore and retrospectively called their earlier 'special' the G1.
The story goes that they crashed this car into a tree stump at the side of the driveway at their home, destroying it.
No remains exist.
