Lotus Etna (909) at the 2008 Goodwood Festival of Speed, by I.Coster

The Lotus Etna is a concept car which was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro from ItalDesign.

It was displayed for the first time at the Birmingham Motorshow in 1984. The engine was mid-mounted and the chassis was loosely based around the Lotus Esprit's, although the Etna's was three inches longer.

The Etna (code named M300) never actual ran and was more a project car, although Lotus intended to feature the new 4-litre Lotus Type 909 V8 engine (a derivative of the Esprit engine).

Only one car was ever made.

Appearances

The Lotus Etna was displayed at the 2006 Lotus Festival.

The Lotus Etna was displayed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2008 at the Cartier Style et Luxe Concours.

Much work had been carried out to the car; including restoration of the chassis and development into the running of the car, with the installation of the Lotus 909 V8 engine.
