The Tatra 623 was a Czech two-seat rear-engined car, developed for rapid assistance on races and in normal operation. At first it was created by rebuilding the Tatra 613-2 vehicles by rescue organization AMK Narex (since 1992 Narimex). Tatra for this rebuild prepared the basic documentation and let it approve, rebuilds then took place in the Tatra service and mostly in collaboration with Narex and Kovoslužba organizations. In 1984, AMK Narex already disposed with six these cars.

In 1986, the team participated with their eight T623 in the first F1 race in Hungary (Hungaroring) to secure assistance. Commissioner FISA then claimed that it is one of the three best teams in the world.

The cars had increased performance and modified motor to 3.8 l, they were still rebuilt for fire departments and assistance services, today are the vast majority replaced by new, mostly Škoda Octavia cars. From this version was then also derived the super-sport MTX Tatra V8.
